I know it's been a while but things have been so busy here this ol' blog has been sadly neglected. I'll make it up to you this week with some new products!

First off, a big thank you to all the customers who have bought hundreds of products from our website http://www.magentadirect.ie/ over the last 2 months. Normally this would be our quiet period...instead it's been one of our busiest! So once again, thanks for choosing Magenta Direct for your farming products.

We have new Neoprene Leggings available now.

These pull on over your trousers but do not fully cover you, meaning they're not as uncomfortably warm during the hot weather and you have greater freedom of movement.

Next up, we have the new hoof blocks from SHOOF called Walkease.

SHOOF Walkease are a new flexible EVA block that is quick and easy to apply. It is not intented to replace other conventional claw shoes currently on the market but to provide lower cost and faster treatment for developing hoof injuries.

The Starter Kit comprises 10 Walkease blocks, a tube of special Walkease ‘superglue’, a Walkease rasp and 10 pairs of latex gloves, all packed in a useful resealable plastic container.

Dock Sprays Available at MagentaDirect.ie

Hi everyone,

As we're in the middle of spraying season I thought we'd focus this weeks post on Dock Sprays, due to the high level of enquiries we're receiving about sprays for docks.

Here at http://www.magentadirect.ie/, we sell three dock sprays.

The two most commonly sold dock sprays are Eagle (Clover Friendly Dock Spray) and High Load Mircam.


By far the most popular dock spray is EAGLE.

In GRASSLAND, Eagle will control broadleaf and curled docks from seedling to rosette stage (200 mm high or across). Where docks are growing from an established tap root it is essential that there is a good leaf area for uptake of the herbicide. If flower stems have started to develop, the field should be topped and spraying delayed until a new rosette has developed. When docks are well established or where there is a large reservoir of seed in the soil a programme of treatments may be required for long term control.


Apply in the spring/early summer or in the autumn when the grass and docks are
actively growing, and good growing conditions are expected to last for at least two
weeks after spraying. Where grass growth is poor due to drought, waterlogging, frosty
conditions or nutrient deficiencies the crop may be temporarily checked, from which it
quickly recovers.

Rate of Use: 40-60g per hectare in 200-400 litres of water.
Number of treatments: One per season.
Harvest Interval: Do not harvest for hay or silage for 21 days after spraying.
Livestock: Keep livestock out of treated area for at least 7 days after spraying.

EAGLE Dock Spray is rainfast after one hour.

The second product we sell is High Load Mircam.

High Load Mircam is a selective herbicide for the control of broad leaved in wheat, barley, oats, undersown cereal crops and established grassland.

It is most effective against Docks in the seedling stage or during the early phase of regeneration from shoots. Established perennials are difficult to kill and a second spray may be required. For long-term reduction treatment may have to be repeated the following season.

Patio & Dash Cleaner: A highly effective cleaner for brick, stone, walls, pavers, concrete, roofs and dash. For cleaning most external surfaces exposed to attack from environmental and natural dirt.

Restores surfaces to their original condition without the aid of power washers.

Also a great killer of red fungus on White Dash, leaving the Dash clean, bright and back to it's original condition. Ideal as a pre-paint cleaner.

Removes all algae from walls. Very good fungus control and cleaner for dirty walls.


On walls and roofs, simply spray on and leave nature to work. On paths, patios, etc. just spray on, agitate lightly and rinse off with a garden hose. (No power washing please).

Finally, we have our Creosoted Stakes back in stcok in various sizes.

These top of the range latvian pine stakes are kiln-dried and then pressure treated with Creosote to ensure maximum penetration for long-lasting posts.

Each stake comes with a 15 year guarantee.

They are delivered straight to your yard in bundles of 60 which will save your back too!

Heat Detection Products

Hello everyone, Just a quick post this week reminding all our customers that http://www.magentadirect.ie/ has all the heat detection aids you'll need for your cattle breeding heat detection programme. First off, we have the ever popular FIL Detail Paint 500ml, available in 4 different colours Red, Blue, Green and Yellow.

Next up, we have the AMBIC Scratch pads. A well-priced alternative to Estrotect these have been big sellers for the last 2 years, handy to use and gives a clear sign of mounting as opposed to the cow just having a scratch!

Ecosote, Creocote and Weed Sprayers

Hi everyone,

We've added two new products to the http://www.magentadirect.ie/ range just in time for Fencing season. Both products are variations on creosote.

First off, we have Ecosote Wood Preserver. ECOSOTE © effectively preserves external timber to prevent fungi and decay. The active ingredients (Boron & Biocide) are natural decay inhibitors that fight fungi and also control green algae growth. Although it is water based, it penetrates timber just like a solvent based wood preservative.

Next up it's Creocote Timber Treatment.

Bird Brand CREOCOTE has been reformulated so it contains many of the same penetrating oils that are contained in traditional cresote and creosote substitute but no longer claims or contains the active ingredient and wood preservative. Still used on external timbers with the other characteristics well liked in creosotes.

It is available in 3 long lasting colours and even similar in smell and colour to traditional creosote though care should still be taken when used and stored.

Finally, we're headlong into Heat Detection season and we've added the Ambic Alert heat detection patch to our range of heat detection products.

Ambic Alert is a simple self adhesive patch containing a vial of paint which is activated by pressure of other mounting animals. It has a built in delay mechanism, meaning it requires 3 seconds of pressure before it is activated, so there's a marked reduction in false positives.
